Topic 21 - Pin Hole Camera

My Pinhole camera

The basics or fundamentals of camera obscura was discovered by Alhazen (Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Haytham) when he invented the pinhole camera (camera obsura).
The camera obscura has been used for over a thousand years; its origin predates even the invention of optics. The first camera obscura was simply a small hole in one wall of a darkened room or tent. Light passing through the hole formed an inverted (upside down) image of the outside scene on a white screen placed across the room from the hole. The image was dim and fuzzy, but it did accurately show the scenery in full color along with the motion of birds, ocean waves and tree branches swaying in the wind.

Sharpness – Size of hole, quality of hole (smoothness)
Lens choice ? Hole is the aperture- fixed – distance from CCD plane is focal length
Exposure – Trial and error but digi cams can guesstimate in live view.

Cut a round shape off a black sheet to fit the camera's opening.
moved the lens and tape down nicely without letting any light in.
